How To Color Correct Video (Color Grading Tutorial For Beginners!)
One of the more difficult tasks any budding video editor will encounter is color correction.
Any decent video editing software will have a bewildering array of controls and settings to complete this task but unless you understand what they all do you will invariably end up with a hot mess!
In the video below you can take a walk through most of those common color settings and see how they affect the video being worked on.
In my experience there are a few additional rules to follow.
First, remember that color correction is a process involving a number of settings so make small incremental changes as you go.
Secondly after about five or ten minutes of staring at the image on the screen you may lose all perspective on where you started, where you are and where you thought you were going when you began!
So for the sake of your own sanity get up and walk away frequently to let your eyes reset and adjust.
Finally when you think you have it right either get someone else to look at it or walk away for an hour then come back.

Check out the settings or the advanced settings to see what else you can do with it.

The Ultimate Free Map Tool
Well I am not sure I actually need it but it’s pretty cool anyway!
A reasonably common task for the average home video maker is the use of map animations to lay out a travel path.
Getting hold of fairly good looking maps is not super hard and Google Maps is a good starting point.
Outside of that things start to get a bit thin on the ground.
A new alterative has just appeared and although it is aimed at professional map makers and people who would have commercial take on it all it still allows for the average person to get hold of some free maps.
You can see it in action in the video below but bear in mind it is from a professional point of view.
The service is called Felt and is worth taking a look at.
Best Teleprompter App For iPad, iPhone & Android
As part of my real world shooting and editing process and because of the type of video I most often make, I make heavy use of teleprompters for my talent.
Some people need to read completely from a teleprompter while others use it in note form to remind themselves of important points to cover.
Either way it is vital that the teleprompter is not just easy to read but also easy to control.
If it isn’t then the onscreen performance will always look somewhat distracted because the talent has their attention on the operation of the teleprompter and not on the delivery.
Unlock the YouTube Success – Proven Strategies to Dominate
This is a pretty in-depth look at what it really takes to build success on YouTube these days.
There are hundreds of reasonably successful creators offering advice on how to be successful on YouTube.
The problem with nearly all of them is that they are regurgitating the same old information that is freely available and pretending that it is some kind of secret sauce.
The basics of YouTube have been set in stone for quite a while now.
The real difference between the moderately successful and the top earners is the depth to which they take their research and actions into those basics and how professionally they conduct themselves.
